What is VoIP? Should we use that technology?

Voice over the internet protocol, (VoIP), breathes new life into traditional technology. In a nutshell, VoIP is used to transmit voice conversations over a data network using the Internet’s protocol. Mediums (paths) used for VoIP include:

  • Dedicated T-1 links between sites sharing data & voice and video.

  • Company Intranets (LAN).

  • Multi-location MPLS circuits provided by your local carrier.

  • The internet.

VoIP quality-of-service (QOS) relies on the proper planning and implementation of its pathway (trunk) and associated electronic peripheral equipment. Our certified technicians can test your equipment and transportation medium and recommend & implement any necessary changes. These changes may include switches, routers, proper data cabling, etc.

VoIP technology can save money by allowing your company to purchase only one phone system, centrally locating it, and allowing satellite locations to connect their phone and pass voice traffic through your WAN and data infrastructure. Your remote locations function as if they are in the same building as the main system.

Please call us and chat about VoIP technology to see it may be the right fit for your company’s communications needs.
